"It will only be 20 more minutes!!" (Our weekend, a short story :)
My husband Harry, as some of you know, will be finishing a grueling 9 month Paramedic to RN course here in just a few days!!!! I can't even contain my excitement for the craziness to end! Well anyway, it is a very rare event that Hary and I are even home together because of his schedule and my work schedule. But last weekend we were able to spend 3 whole days together!! On Thursday, Harry thought it would be a good idea (since the weather is finally getting nicer :) to buy a ceiling fan for our bedroom.....I thought 'Great Idea!' He went to Menards, bought a fan and came home around 5:30 and decided that he should install it. (I love my husband, but home improvement projects are not his forte) Since Harry was nice enough to go buy a new fan, I decided I would help him.....I mean, how long can it really take to install a ceiling fan?? I put the blades together, decided he was not making much progress, and got ready to run to target. "No you can't leave, what if I need you to help me??!! Honey, it will only be 20 more minutes!!" So, I stayed. I watched, watched, and watched some more.....nothing. After awhile of Harry trying to figure it out....and getting annoyed with me, he told me to go to target. I picked up a few things, stopped at Family Fare, and came home about a half hour later to: "Dad, you're not listening!! The black and the red are working but the yellow is not!! No, no, no, the yellow dad!! Yes, the black and red....no the yellow!!!" I was just about to turn around and take myself out to dinner when I heard "Wait........... I think I got it!!' I sat in the kitchen and had a nice bowel of broccoli and read the paper when Harry came downstairs about a half hour after I got home and exclaimed that he was done! He had installed a ceiling fan...all....by.....himself! I was pretty annoyed and hungry but very proud of his ceiling fan. And just for the record...it took 2 1/2 hours to install...not 20 mintues! :) Oh, and he did take me to dinner and bought me a brownie ice cream sundae :P
On Friday (yes, the saga continues) I woke up really early for me to run some errands and get stuff done with the weather being so nice! I was up at 10:30 and fell asleep in the rocking chair at 11 :) Harry woke me up (again) around 12:00 and he decided that he wanted to run errands with me...so that is what we did. We ran to Michaels so I could buy a picture frame to put in the living room, Kohls so I could buy this awesome yellow purse I have wanted, and Harry bought some new shoes for graduation. (On a side note; I bought Harry golf clubs for a graduation present and he was not going to get them until he graduated. I caved with the weather being so nice and let him have them early) And so, we went to the driving range. I thought it would be fun....I am not a golfer whatsoever, but I still thought it would be a good time. Harry bought 1 basket to start, and we had fun.....he used to golf, so he did good, but I kept hitting the dirt. And because I was having such a good time, he bought another basket. About 1/4 of the way through the 2nd basket, I was done...and so mad that I couldn't hit the dumb ball.....so I sat in the car, getting a tan on my right arm, watching Harry and the other golfers :) It was entertaining to say the least. We headed to Target to finish up our errands, and then headed over to my parents house for dinner. After dinner, Harry had to get going so he could ready to ride with County, and I was sooooo excited to put up my new picture frame!!!! When we got home, Harry jumped out of the car, grabbed his new shoes and ran inside (leaving the drivers door open?) So, I grabbed all of our stuff from the mall and propped up my new picture frame on my back tire....since I would be right back. When I came back out...I stopped and thought 'I am going to take a nap when Harry leaves, so I better pull my car in the garage' I jumped in the drivers seat....since he kept the door open anyway and backed up a little bit and pulled forward into the garage. We have a narrow driveway, so I occasionaly run over the woodchips and when I thought I did....the woodchips sounded a little louder this time?? Huh. Well Harry came running out of the garage and said "Ashley Elizabeth, what did you just run over......oh Ashley, you ran over your brand new picture frame!!" Yes....I did and I completely forgot that I proped it up on the wheel.....like completely forgot! And because it was such a nice day, all of our neighbors were out and were able to witness my stupidity. My incredibly nice husband helped me clean up all the glass but the actual frame was still intact.....and I intend on hanging it somewhere in our house!!! :) ha!
Saturday was my best friend Michelle's Bachelorette party and it was a blast!! And Sunday afternoon Harry and I did n.o.t.h.i.n.g. and it was wonderful!! Overall it was a interesting and fun weekend...and I am working this one. Next weekend promises to be fun with Harry finishing up his school, and Bret and Michelle's wedding!!! Happy Saturday night and Sunday!! :)
